Woodland Requiem, evokes a sense of reverence for the forest itself. The lone tree in the foreground dominates the canvas as the subject of its companions' mourning. In the background we see trees that have shared the same fate, and others that soon will. A haze of blue and grey diffuses sunlight below the canopy, while the eye is directed upward toward clear skies above. A sapling grows in the lower right corner, showing us the innate potential in all living things.
